About Originals Burger Co.

Tucked away in an industrial estate on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Originals Burger Co. isn’t exactly the type of venue that the average Sydneysider is likely to stumble upon. Inspired by Texan-roadside burger joints, the venue features an Americana-style fit out and a menu to match. The concept for the venue came to Founder and Chef Josh Franco while he was on a burger tour of the US a few years ago and the result, as Josh puts it, is a menu of simple, American-style burgers with and Australian twist.

Although Josh had successfully run independent venues in Bondi and Darlinghurst, he envisioned turning Originals into something a little different; a multi-location, quick service enterprise. With this in mind, he hired General Manager, Dave Moore to oversee operations and set up the venue for success. With years of experience in the franchise restaurant and retail game, Dave knew that a robust Point of Sale platform would be an essential component to the new venue’s success.

Business Goals

Dave says that the fundamental reasons Originals decided to go with Revel was due to the simplicity of the interface, its ability to scale, and its intelligent reporting capabilities. The intuitive nature of the platform means that staff can easily learn the system, and managers can perform comprehensive analyses on the business without having to spend hours sorting through data.

“Revel is very intuitive and the level of analysis and detail that we get is very expansive. One of the major pain points I experienced with other POS systems prior to Revel was the cost in resources. I used to have staff that would spend hours pulling spreadsheets together to get the information that we needed. To be able to eliminate that cost, have real time data, and to know that the integrity of the data is always without human error was a key deciding factor for me.”
